The Auris pentatonic glockenspiel is the perfect way to introduce a child to music and sound. Use it at home to play musical games or create soothing sounds at bed time. In the kindergarten and early school years it is a wonderful companion to both story telling and dramas to create a musical background and atmosphere. It plays lead melodies to choir singing and orchestra very well. The ways to use Auris glockenspiel are limited only by your imagination!

The glockenspiel body is made of European maple wood, a hard, well suited material. The tone bars, which carries the secret of the Auris sound, are made out of a special brass alloy. This material gives the instrument an enormous tone potential that can fill a concert hall with sonorous light.

The Auris glockenspiel has brass-alloy tones and a maple-wood body. The tone bars are coated with a fine layer of beeswax. The beeswax provides a mild, natural gloss, and it also allows you to restore the bright surface yourself when it loses its shine.

Made in Sweden.

21x12 cm (8.27x4.72 inch), 7 brass plates, with 2 mallets (wood+rubber), range: d-e-g-a-b-d-e

 Ages 3+

The Auris pentatonic instruments tunes in a pentatonic scale. This tone combination is called a pentatonic scale. “Penta” means five and that is what we have here, d-e-g-a-h. d and e are once repeated. The pentatonic scale allows you to play freely around the instrument, creating any improvised melody. It will never give you the feeling that you are playing “wrong” – anything is possible. This gives the player the very important experience of “I can” which encourages and brings more joy and lust into the playing. Especially by a rhythmic playing it is important that you do not meet any harmonic obstacles but has a scale that makes you entirely free to flow over the tones.

The special thing about the pentatonic scale is that however you play with it, it will always sound good. You can play up and down the scale in any combination of tones and it gives you little sweet melodies all the time.  An openly floating scale, that allows you to create music freely without the frustrating struggle with wrong notes or inharmonious sounds.
